Up the Creek with Youth Sailing

Saturday 25th May was the annual Cadets sailing trip to Badnam Creek for a picnic. This event was well attended with 30 cadets along with parents sailing down the river. We even had some adventurous parents rowing up the river to meet up with the sailors.

The weather was glorious, and it was a good down wind sail to the creek. Even the muddy creek water was tempting to all under the rare sight of the sun.

Once there we waded across the slightly muddy banks to set down our picnic blankets and feasted while eyeing up other people's sweet treats, freely sharing wet wipes to clean off sticky and muddy children. The children whiled away the time paddle boarding, jumping in the water and practicing in the dinghies.

After lunch the club paddle boards were strapped together, and the fun really began. Who could run across all four paddle boards without falling in? This was not limited to the children oh no even some intrepid adults joined in with various degrees of success ranging from 2 secs to a completed course.

Finally, it was time to return to the clubhouse with the older children beating back, whilst the less experienced enjoyed a leisurely tow home.

Thank you to the Youth Sailing team and everyone who attended for making this such an enjoyable and memorable event!
