Mike Dicker (Chief Instructor Power and Sail)
Mike Joined Hamble River Sailing Club (HRSC) in April 2022 as the Chief Instructor. Before that he had been freelancing as a senior Dinghy Instructor, race coach and Powerboat Instructor along the south coast. He first qualified as a Dinghy Instructor in 1985 and then went onto a normal career. He returned full time to the water in 2019. In between he coached juniors at club and regional events in his spare time.
He is now looking forward to continuing to develop the HRSC Recognised Training Centre (RTC) and get involved in sailing and of course powerboating across the board. In between he has been actively racing in anything that floats and has ended up as an average RS Vareo racer on their circuit with mixed results including 4th at the nationals in 2020!
Always happy to get on the water he can support private lessons, bespoke sailing and powerboating lessons and coaching for aspirant olympiads or just those of you that want to improve your sailing! Just get in touch in the office or via the phone and have a chat about how Mike can support you and your boating needs. He can deliver all aspects of the RYA syllabus for Dinghy and Keelboats.
In his down time he likes nothing better than sailing so if you are after a crew for Wednesday night sailing or have a spare boat for racing on a Friday get in touch and he will happily go for a race and demonstrate his inability to compete.
