River Hamble Combined Clubs Regatta 17th, 18th & 19th July 2013

Published 17:29 on 23 Jul 2013

River Hamble Combined Clubs put on a fantastic regatta in some of the hottest weather we have seen in a long time! Supported by Warsash Sailing Club and the Hamble River Sailing Club, the event provides a variety of races for both yachts and dinghies

On Wednesday the yachts were treated to some class racing in light conditions and first place was taken by Light (Rob Denning et al), My Dream (Graham Edwards), Needlework (Peter & Ann Smith), and Lark (Nick Brebner) in their respective classes. On Thursday night the Warsash pursuit race was run in slightly more breeze and saw Infinite Jest (David Aldridge) take first in the cruiser class whilst My Dream (Graham Edwards) showed the rest of the fleet how it was done in the sports class. A full race report can be found

The dinghies raced from Wednesday through to Friday and experienced everything from a drift on Wednesday to some champagne sailing on Friday. Overall Ian Clark dominated the fast fleet in his Blaze with four firsts and a fourth. Second place went to Rob Jones and third to James Crew both sailing a Finn. In the slow fleet Sarah Huges came out on top, leading Jess Jarman both sailing a Laser 4.7. Third went to Ed Norbury in an RS Feva. The Foxer fleet were represented on Wednesday and Hedley Bewes lead the fleet, scoring two bullets.

Further results can be found on the RHCC website, www.riverhamblecc.org.uk

A special thanks go to the race committee and all volunteers, without which this event and many others would not run!
