Hamble Classics 2023

The Flag Officers and committee members would like to thank all our staff and volunteers who worked so hard to deliver a very successful Hamble Classics regatta last weekend, and to our co-hosting club the RAFYC. Particular thanks to Jonty and Vicki Sherwill for bringing their event to HRSC, Principal Race Officer Peter Bateson and Assistant Race Officer Kathy Smalley, Dudley Stock who provided the finish boat Xtract, Wetwheels Hamble for providing the main committee boat, also Viv Holt for running the results service and everyone involved who had a part to play however small.

There were many thanks from the competitors so the whole team can glow with pride. As quoted by one volunteer, even if not racing "That really felt like a serious but fun event to be a part of.."

Congratulations to members on some very successful racing with special mention of:

Gary and Claire Rossall in X128 Little X for winning the XOD Class and close second Peter Baines in X192 Felix.

Jonty and Vicki for winning the Regatta Class in Cockleshell, ably navigated by Toby their dog.

Aiden Barr, Rear Commodore Sailing for winning the Norlethe Trophy for his exceptional contribution to the event.

Peter Cyriax and the crew of Firebrand, owned by Romana-Ann Gale, for winning the Spirit of Racing Concours d'Elegance prize - awarded to a yacht modified during her history to remain competitive.
