HRSC Race Skills Regatta 19th 20th July 2025
On the weekend of the 19th 20th July HRSC are hosting a Race Skills Regatta a great opportunity for keelboat/yacht racers of all levels; from beginners to experts; to have an opportunity to learn, improve and practice their race craft and skills. This is especially an ideal opportunity for the growing number of RAFYC members who are looking to learn get into racing and enter the RAFYC Battle of Britain Regatta 13th 14th September , with expert support from an International racing coach, rules coach, Race Officer and expert racers.
What to expect .
- Friday evening 18th July in the HRSC Clubhouse - a session on Race Rules explained by a senior RYA rules Judge.
- Saturday Morning 19th in the HRSC Clubhouse introduction to the coaches and the race team to explain the simple format and pass on tips and answer your questions ahead of racing
- Saturday Morning/Afternoon - - On the Water a series of short simple windward leeward races back to back to maximise the opportunity to practice starts mark rounding's and manoeuvres on the course.. There will be 3 fleets/Starts Nordic Folkboat, XoD and Handicap Keelboats. The coach will also race on board several boats.
- Saturday Afternoon post racing Back into the clubhouse for a de-brief with the coach and RO with each winning boat to feedback their tips on what went well and what they are looking to improve.
- Saturday Evening Meal and drinks in the HRSC Clubhouse a chance to discuss, ask questions and share tips amongst competitors
- Sunday two round the can races an opportunity to put in practice new skills.
