Cousin and Uncle Bob's

Racing for the Uncle and Cousin Bobs started slowly due to little wind, but Race Officer Chris Hamel organised a well sized course for the competitors. The wind picked up after the first heats, as did the racing.

There were 11 entries so two heats were run, each consisting of two races. The top three racers from each heat qualified for the Uncle Bobs final whilst the rest of the field contested Cousin Bobs.

In the first heat, Kieran and Rebecca were joint first at the end of the first lap, but Kieran struggled with the light winds and the race ended with Alex in first, with Alice not far behind in second and Rebecca in third. In the second race of the heat, Alex and Alice kept up together and finished with the same positions. Ronan upped the pace to finish a close third.

The wind had picked up slightly for the second heat. Oliver suffered an unlucky capsize right on the start line and ended up starting last, but sailed well to catch up the fleet, finishing third. Robert took first with Jenna not far behind. In the next race Robert successfully defended first place, with Oliver in second and Jenna in third.

As the scores stood it was still all to play for entering the respective finals. Each final consisted of two races.

The Cousin Bobs final was closely contested. Ewan got off to a great start, but Rebecca managed to pull past him into first and sailed well, winning both final races, to win the Cousin Bobs overall. Tim and Ewan both sailed brilliantly through both races, but in the end Tim took second with Ewan a very close third.

The Uncle Bobs final was just as competitive. Alice and Oliver were quickly over the starting line; however Robert and Alex took first and second place in the first race, having used the tide effectively to their advantage. In the second race all competitors had a good start but Alex overtook Jenna and Robert to gain first place.
