RYA Adult level 1 dinghy sailing course
The RYA Level One course is the perfect introduction to sailing and is for beginners with no previous experience. It is the first part of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training scheme and its aim is to provide basic boat handling techniques and essential background knowledge. During the course, you will learn all the key skills required to get afloat under supervision in a singlehanded dinghy.
Your instructor will take you through how to sail in all directions, teach you how to launch and recover your boat and explain how to recover from capsizing. Short theory sessions on the land will teach you about the basic equipment needed, tides and weather.
The RYA Level One course is for beginners who have done little or no dinghy sailing before. By the end of the course, you will be able to sail safely under supervision. It is recommended that all participants consolidate this course with the RYA Level Two (Basic Skills) course.
This course is run over 2 days from 0900 to 1600. After you have completed the Level 1 course you will be ready to proceed to your Level 2 course which you can, of course, book with HRSC
