Hamble River Sailing Club Summer Open Regatta
Rain may have stopped play in cricket at the nearby Southampton Test Match but Hamble River Sailing Club's intrepid members ventured out for the inaugural HRSC Summer Regatta joined by entries from several local clubs. Aimed at bringing all the sections of the club together the day saw over 60 entries, from the junior cadets in their Oppies and Teras on the river Hamble to the keelboat fleet out in the Solent. There was plenty of rain but the wind took a little persuading with several keelboats struggling to meet the out of time limit in the first race.
The Cadets were out in fully force with a dedicated junior class and the senior cadets joining in the open mixed dinghy fleet where they were very well placed in the results. HRSC is all about having fun and enjoying your sailing and true to form the light airs led to an impromptu Oppie Swim race.
Whilst a great time was had on the water Covid-19 restrictions limited onshore events with the Rum Party and BBQ postponed and prizegiving deferred to later in the year.
