Annual Cadet & Peanut Camp at Fairthorne 2016
Well – 40 kids and 39 adults had a fabulous four days of fun at our Annual Camp this year. Obviously we had lots of time on the water – the tide was in the morning so we took full advantage of the Oppies, Picos, Mirror, canoes, windsurfer and all ages and abilities got on the water (and in the water too!).
Then there were the activities designed to challenge/entertain the kids and allow the adults to have a bit of down time (although some of the adults couldn't resist joining in!!)…..so we started with our stamp treasure hunt, followed by boat building and then racing on the low tide……..we made colourful wind vanes, enjoyed a scavenger hunt, finding out who could build the highest tower from polystyrene and cocktail sticks, and of course, the traditional Pirate Treasure River Walk from Fairthorne to Botley – deciphering the Pirate's morse code message to win back the gold chocolate coin treasure! The Craft Tent was also very popular as a "pop-in and create" venue – some beautiful works of art were created!
Evenings were spent using the brand new club BBQ to cook sausages, burgers, chicken, etc, and then toasting marshmallows on the open fire…………everyone enjoying the relaxed environment.
Thank you to all the families who came along and joined in and supported so enthusiastically – it was a wonderful way to spend time with club families – shall we do it again next year? I think the answer is a resounding YES!
