With the glorious weather temping us to get on the water, we must carry on following Government advice and that of our Harbour Master, that leisure activities on the water should cease.
The Sailing Committee has been getting together to monitor the situation and has agreed plans to launch our usual programme of activities as soon as restrictions allow. We are well placed to start running events within a week of restrictions being lifted. There may be a small change in the makeup of a racing series to allow boats currently ashore time to launch and prepare their boats.
However, plans may change, and we will work with official guidance and continue to review our options in order to be back out on the water as soon as possible.
As soon as the restrictions are lifted, there will not only be sailing activities but social events in the Clubhouse. The usual spring maintenance programme has not yet been able to start; therefore, we will be looking for volunteers to help with this. Do let Gemma know if you can drive a paintbrush or wield a screwdriver! email@example.com
In the meantime, virtual racing on line goes from strength to strength with over 35 competitors taking part in the various sessions organised by different sections of the club. If you want to take part please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
We have also been challenged by the Royal Southern Yacht Club to an inter club virtual sailing completion later in the month
Have a great Easter, stay at home and stay safe
