Presentation by Steph Merry and Ann Wilkinson
2016 was the centenary of the famous Shackleton voyage from Elephant Island to South Georgia, after his expedition ship the Endurance had sunk in pack ice on the Weddell Sea.
4 members of HRSC (Steph, Wendy Laynton, Ann and Jamie Wilkinson), joined a cruise of the SV Pelagic Australis from the Falklands to South Georgia in October / November that year. During a two week cruise around the island they visited abandoned whaling stations, observed abundant marine wildlife, hiked over snow-covered cliffs and sailed amongst breath-taking icebergs.
Steph and Ann will recount their adventures as they take you on their voyage through one of the most remote regions of the earth.
