Ultramarathons: Adventures of a fully trained idiot

17th February 2022

17th February: Join David Harvey: 'Ultramarathons: Adventures of a fully trained idiot'

Ever wondered what an Ultramarathon is? One of the fastest growing extreme sports today and increasingly popular.

An Ultramarathon Race is anything in excess of a normal 26.5 mile marathon, the most popular races being 100 +

So, if you have ever wanted to compete in an Ultramarathon, or, just find out what they are, then this is the talk for you.

Come and listen to David Harvey (with photographs) talk about his experiences in Ultramarathon running.

David has competed in many races e.g. Western States, California - 100 miles, Ultra Trail Du Mont Blanc, Chamonix - 105 miles, Transvulcania, La Palma - 50 miles, Grand Union Canal (Birmingham to London) 145 miles, Thames Path 100 and many many more.

He will cover, how he got into it, the benefits to health, training, coaching, how to prepare yourself physically and mentally, the successes, the set backs and the injuries. Listen to him talk about the good ones, but, also, the bad ones with humour.

Not to be missed even if you are an armchair runner.

Dinner for the evening will be Mushroom Stroganoff

1900 onwards
