SUP - Paddleboard Beginners Course
SUP Beginner Sessions. These sessions are perfect you if you have never paddleboarded before or if you have had a go but want to learn more. They are designed to give you the information you need to get out on the water safely, have fun and learn the basic techniques of paddle boarding. We provide two hours of land and water-based instruction (paddleboard & buoyancy aid included).During your session you will be taught how to carry your board and paddle, paddling technique, different types of turns, self-rescue, how to fall safely, how weather and environment affects you as well as how to plan expeditions safely.
What is it all about?
You will have two hours of land and water-based instruction to help you learn the basics so you feel more confident about getting out and about on your Paddleboard.
How much is my session?
Your session costs £40. This includes the hire of your paddleboard and a buoyancy aid (if required).
Can I bring my own SUP?
Yes you can.
When do the sessions take place?
Monday evenings from 6.00pm till 8.00pm (tide-dependent, which typically is bi-weekly). Please go to https://www.hrsc.org.uk/events for dates.
How long is my session?
Two hours of fun and education, guaranteed to make you smile, relax and you may even meet a few like-minded folks too!
How do I book?
What do I need to bring along?
A positive "can-SUP" attitude and your own suitable clothing for going out on the River. Weather conditions vary and you may be good to wear board shorts and a tshirt when it's sunny or need a wetsuit if its chillier. Just be prepared to enter the water (ie fall in!). So, you may need a towel and change of clothing!
Can I rent a wetsuit or buoyancy aid?
We have buoyancy aids of all sizes for you to use free of charge, however we do not have any wetsuits available.
I'm nervous will I be ok?
Yep! Our experienced instructors will look after you and make sure you finish the session with a big smile on your face and a need to get out Paddle Boarding again very soon!
