Womens Open Keel Boat Championships 2017
Women's Open Keel boat Championship
The Dubarry Women's Open Keelboat Championship does what it says on the tin. The format is a weekend regatta of keelboat racing for yachts crewed solely by women. The event was started in 2008 by a group of four intrepid female yacht racers - Jody Slater, Emma Beagley, Vicky Lincoln and Steph Danby. They wanted to compete in challenging racing against other women, and as a result of their vision, we are able to do exactly that.
Over the years, the personnel behind WOKC has changed but the vision has remained the same. The event has been hosted by Hamble River Sailing Club since 2012. It doesn't just happen on its own and a dedicated team of volunteers are behind the scenes making it happen.
The team toils to bring you a female friendly sailing event; the racing is competitive but offers a supportive environment for ladies of all sailing abilities. Whether you've never raced before or you're an old pro, this is your event and we thank you very much for supporting it.
This Years Event
The popular Frocks & Flipflops party will take place after racing on the Saturday evening. Lady racers, their friends and HRSC members can let down their hair and raise some cash for charities.
Boats must hold a valid current IRC certificate. Unless as a result of a rating protest, or to correct a rating office error, no changes may be made to a boat's rating dated less than 7 days before the first race, except at the discretion of the organizing authority.
